Please note that if a student is applying for a grading he/she will be tested for an increase in stamina as in previous gradings, plus the ability to perform, teach and explain all basic techniques fully.

Self-defence (Goshin jutsu)
Ten techniques from seated/kneeling position,

Breaking ( Tamashiwari)
Mandatory break with forefist, mandatory break with kick (head level), optional break,

Exercises
70 push ups on knuckles,
20 push ups on two fingers,
150 sit ups,
100 squats,
2.4 kilometre run (10.3 mins),

Other qualifications
The applicant must hold a current First Aid Certificate,

Notes:
The applicant must be physically fit to perform all techniques i.e. not injured.

Students will be tested on all previous grading techniques and patterns.

3rd Kyu Brown Belt

Understanding of karate warm-up exercises and the ability to demonstrate them.
